Eh Vegas has come and gone. Good times were had.
Dawn and Mary arrived in Buffalo on Thursday. I took them to Cecilia's for dinner, where I had stuffed banana peppers (shared with Mary) and Chicken Parm. I was tricked into ordering and then not ordering dessert by Dawn. Not cool, man.
After dinner, we headed to Seneca Niagara Casino for pokery action. We waited some amount of time (maybe an hour?) for seats. 2-5 list was not moving, so I got sat at 1-2 200 max with Mary, and Dawn was seated at 1-2 100 max bingo.
Our table was full of 2-5 and 5-10 regulars, some of whom had been running bad so they moved down in limit, and some who I think were in the same boat as me and just didn't feel like waiting for seats at another table.
My most memorable hand was JJ UTG. I raise to 7 (a small raise for the table) and was re-popped by late position player to 25. I call, and the flop comes Jxx. Normally I would like to bet out here, but the re-raiser is one of these guys who has been running bad, talking about it, and not normally playing this low. I want to stack him. There is about $60 in the pot and we both have around $300 behind. I check, he bets $50, and I OBFV all-in for $300 into a $110 pot.
He tanks. I know he wants this pot bad. I'm just praying he wants it bad enough to call with his overpair. For a second, I think he is going to make a fold, and I am about to call a clock on him to interrupt his thought process. Just as I start to open my mouth, he makes the call with QQ. No improvements, and take a nice pot. My roulette and video poker losses are covered for the night with a small profit to spare.
We headed back to my place for sleep. Dawn wisely took the couch, and Mary took the Office/Spare room with the air mattress. Turns out the air mattress has a slow leak and apparently by 6am, it had attempted to swallow Mary whole. Sorry about that Mary.....
Next morning Dawn headed off to the Gym and I took Mary to the Forest Lawn Cemetery (she likes to photograph gravestones). Forest Lawn is big. We got lost and couldn't find my truck, but Mary has superior navigation skills and pointed us back in the correct direction before we had to call Dawn to pick us up.
We took a driving tour of Buffalo including the home of Mark Twain, the waterfront and Naval Park, downtown Buffalo, the old War Memorial Auditorium (currently being torn down), the Albright Knox Art Gallery and the History Museum (both on the site of the 1901 World Expo where President McKinley was assasinated), and had a late lunch at the original home of the chicken wing, The Anchor Bar. In my opinion, not the best wings in the city, but it is historic.
After lunch, Dawn wanted to see Ralph Wilson Stadium, home of the Buffalo Bills, so we took a drive out to Orchard Park, NY and she took some photos.
Then it was off to Toronto. I drove separately in case there we any emergency reason I had to come home early. We met up with Kat, Oh Captain, Astin, Carson, DonK, and the rest of the tuckfards in the Distillery District of Toronto and had some food and drink before heading back to Kat's for cash games.
We played a .5/.10 game that played more like 1/2. I donked around and went through three buy-ins, ending the night down $60.
I was sharing a room with Oh, Captain, and had the couch - no blanket, and the heat was not working very well. I froze. A fitting revenge for providing Mary with a faulty air mattress.
Part 2 coming later today.....
