Playing Again

I've been on a brief hiatus from poker, but we've found each other again. Starting small after a bad 2008 where I worried too much about a big MTT score and almost completely ignored cash games, where I have been historically profitable.

Played some .50/$1 last night. Bought in for $100 and ran up to $150 before taking a brutal hit with AhKh vs 55. 55 raises to 10 from the button, and I re-pop from the BB for 30. Some early limpers all fold and button calls. Flop comes AsxKs. With about 70 in the pot and button only having 90 behind, I push. He insta-calls with 55 and makes running quads.

I typed "ok" into the chatbox and he proceeds to tell me how he "had" to call. I just agree and bust him a bit later. I topped off and played for about 2 hours and finished up about a hundo. I'm looking forward to more info on the BBT4, but plan on being smarter this year and making sure I play plenty of cash to cover my tourney buy-ins.

It's strange starting off so small, but I'm kind of enjoying it. My taxes on the other hand, I am not enjoying. Turns out I cleared 10k in table games at Harrah's properties last year and the bailout fund needs my help. Bastards. At least I made Diamond status. I think I get free cookies or something.

More posts coming shortly - winter gathering recap (only 2 months late!) and update on Jeff.
